Penny Roulette Online: 1p Chips, Standard Odds and Where to Play for Real Money

Penny Roulette Online: 1p Chips, Standard Odds and Where to Play for Real Money

Penny Roulette is exactly what it says: Playtech’s standard European wheel with a one-penny chip. Same 35:1, same 2.70% edge, same racetrack as the Premium tables that cost fifty times more per chip. Most people meet it in a bookmaker’s app and assume it’s a Paddy Power game; it isn’t, and you can play Penny Roulette online for real money at any UK casino running Playtech. Where, what it costs, and the one thing the name hides.

Watch out for the minimum. Some operators run the 1p chip as advertised; others set a 10p floor on the same game. The sources disagree and so do the lobbies, so the only answer is the limits panel at the site you’ve opened.

What Penny Roulette is

A Playtech RNG table released in February 2017. European wheel, 37 pockets, single zero. Underneath the name it’s the same engine as Playtech’s other roulette: racetrack with Tiers, Orphelins and Voisins, neighbours from one to five numbers, three favourite-bet slots, autoplay up to 99 spins, turbo mode, double-bet-and-spin, last-15 results, baize colour and view options, a croupier voice. That’s a longer feature list than Premium Roulette Pro, which dropped the racetrack.

Not a toy. The chip is 1p; the table isn’t.

The Paddy Power thing

Penny Roulette got its UK following through bookmaker apps, Paddy Power’s included, and plenty of players think it’s a house game. It’s a Playtech title licensed to every operator on that platform. If you’ve only ever played it in one app, the same table with the same odds is in a dozen other lobbies, often with different minimums and different withdrawal speeds. Shop around on those; the game itself won’t change.

Odds, RTP and what 1p a spin actually costs

97.30%, reported across every source we have; Playtech doesn’t publish a public RTP page, so it’s third-party, but a single-zero wheel at 35:1 can’t return anything else. 2.70% edge on every bet. No La Partage.

Here’s the honest maths of a penny table. 1p a spin for 100 spins costs you 2.7p in expected loss. You could play a thousand spins for 27p. That’s the point of the game and it’s a fair one: a real wheel, real money, and a session that costs less than a bus fare. Turbo mode and autoplay make a thousand spins a realistic evening.

Scale it and it’s ordinary roulette. £1 a spin, 100 spins, £2.70. £10 a spin, £27. The chip size changes nothing about the rate.

Limits: a penny game with a £10,000 ceiling

This is the bit the name hides. Reported third-party limits put the table maximum at £10,000 per spin, with £100 on a straight-up and £1,000 on an outside bet. Operators set their own and may go lower. Not verified beyond that.

So a “penny” player and a £500-a-spin player can sit at the same table. If you’re using it to learn, that’s irrelevant. If you’re using it because you think the stakes are capped low and you can’t get carried away, they aren’t and you can. Set a deposit limit in the account, not in your head.

Penny Roulette or 20p Roulette?

The other budget table UK players know is Inspired’s 20p Roulette, reviewed with its UK sites. Same odds, 35:1 and 2.70%. The differences: 20p Roulette wants £1 per spin minimum regardless of chip size, so a straight-up costs five chips; Penny lets you put a single penny on a single number. Penny has favourite-bet saving and autoplay; 20p has neither. 20p has the betting-shop familiarity. On value they’re identical. On flexibility, Penny wins.

For even-money play, both lose to a French table with La Partage, where red and black run at 1.35%. Playtech’s own Premium French is in the same lobby.

Who it’s for

Segment B, obviously, and it’s the best table on the site for them. Learn the racetrack, try a Voisins bet, run a Martingale to see it bust, all for pennies. In my experience nothing teaches variance like watching a thousand 1p spins on autoplay and seeing the balance drift.

Experienced players have no reason to be here unless they want the Playtech RNG feature set at a low minimum. For that it’s fine. For high stakes the limits allow it but the live tables give you more.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Cheapest real-money roulette in the UK: 1p chips where the operator allows it
  • Honest 35:1, 2.70%, no side bets
  • Full Playtech feature set: racetrack, neighbours, three favourites, autoplay, turbo
  • Available at every Playtech casino, not just one bookmaker

Cons

  • Minimum is 1p at some sites and 10p at others; the name promises one thing
  • Maximums up to £10,000 per spin, so the “penny” framing offers no protection
  • No La Partage
  • RNG only; nothing to look at

Verdict

Sorted, as a learning table and as a cheap night’s roulette. It’s standard Playtech with a tiny chip, which means standard maths and a better feature set than most budget games.

Just don’t read “penny” as “safe”. The ceiling is high, autoplay is fast, and the edge is the same 2.70% whether the chip is 1p or £100. Decide the budget first; the table won’t do it for you.

FAQ

Is Penny Roulette only at Paddy Power?

No. It’s a Playtech game, available at any UKGC casino running Playtech’s table games, including most bookmaker-owned brands. The sites at the top of this page carry it. Odds are identical everywhere; minimums and withdrawal speeds differ.

Can you really bet 1p on Penny Roulette?

At some operators, yes: a single 1p chip on a single number. Others set a 10p minimum on the same game. Check the limits panel before you play; the sources and the lobbies don’t agree.

What is the RTP of Penny Roulette?

Reported at 97.30%, the standard single-zero figure, with a 2.70% house edge on every bet. Playtech doesn’t publish a public RTP for it, so the number is third-party, but the payout table leaves no room for anything else.

Is Penny Roulette good for learning?

The best RNG table for it. Real money at 1p a spin, full racetrack and call bets, autoplay to watch variance play out. A thousand spins costs about 27p in expected loss. Set a deposit limit anyway; the table maximum is high.
